Research-to-Practice (with Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe e.V.)

In collaboration with the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe e.V., we analyzed the potential of digital business models in the banking sector, focusing on IIoT-driven financing innovation in the context of Industry 4.0.

The study combined 14 structured expert interviews with business professionals from various corporate functions and a comprehensive survey among local cooperative and savings banks (Volksbanken and Sparkassen, N = 91).

Findings highlight differing assessments of digital financing innovation across stakeholders, yet reveal a shared expectation of substantial market potential for smart financial services in the long run.

The results offer valuable insights into how financial institutions can position themselves strategically in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
